Music can comfort, can enrich life – and the musically powered Young Flowers Quintet will tell you how lovely the music can be!

Origin of the project
The Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government launched a series of art appreciation programs to privilege the school children of Taipei the chance to visit the “Art is Profound”,to attend a stage play or a concert, including western symphonies and the Chinese music. Being assigned the mission of Chinese music appreciation for the sixth grade students, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra presented a intriguing musical so that the children can realize the diversity of Chinese music and begin to love it. This is the purpose of art education.
Historically the TCO had conceived a wide range of repertoires for this program, from the early concert “Chinese Music, I Love You”, spanning the crossover tunes to arouse attention, like cartoon themes and jazz-style pieces, to the lately musical “Heroes, Let’s Fight Together!” combining story from the Three Kingdoms and romantic school comedy, without forgetting the magical music movement of Harry Potter. Each concert was a feast dotted with children’s laughter.

Never Say Goodbye
Taipei 2015 in hot May, TCO presented the musical “Heroes, Let’s Fight Together! – episode 4 – Never Say Goodbye” The conflict between the Young Flowers Quintet and Golden Bitter Melon Trio revealed the subject that the Sixth Grade students care the most: to graduate. The excitation for a new phase, the sorrow of saying goodbye to the classmates and teachers, that the mixed sentiment is expressed with energetic singing and dancing, conveying the Sixth Grade’s reluctant mood to let go.
The concert contains new creation pieces Listening to the Wind Singing under the Bright Moonlight by Chung Yiu-Kwong, Childhood Memories by Lu Liang-hui, The Syncopated Clock by Leroy Anderson – all cheerful and light, or the suspended Theme of Mission Impossible and The Flight of The Bumble-bee; there are also beautiful melodies from The Happy Fairies, Ill-Starred Song to The Secret of Saying Goodbye as well as the traditional piece Hundred Birds Homage to the Phoenix with suona with combination of acrobatics and magic show.
The amusing story, beautiful music not only feast the children, but also Art itself will accompany them to grow up, with no need to say goodbye.
