In October 2020, TCO cooperated with Naxos Records, a well-known German classical music manufacturer, to release the music album "Memory of Mountain" in the international market. On November 6, this record was also officially launched in Taiwan. It was imported by Rock Records and is currently available for ordering on the Books.com’s website and will be sold in physical record stores in the future.
In this album, TCO teamed up with violinist LIN Cho-Liang to perform three works including KUAN Nai-Chong:Memory of Mountain, and Joel HOFFMAN:Violin Concerto No.2 Snow in Spring and Nautilus Symmetry.
"Memory of Mountain" was originally a three-movement Banhu Concerto, depicting the progressive imagery of Alishan:The Sacred Tree in the Fog, The Train in the Mountain Forest and Celebrating a Good Harvest Year. This performance has been specially changed to the violin concerto version. Nautilus Symmetry is Hoffman's first Chinese music composition, quoting the musical style of the Han Dynasty dance ballad Xianghege to manage the beautiful symmetrical time structure. Snow in Spring is a work specially tailored by Hoffman for LIN Cho-Liang and TCO. The music not only explores the sound quality of Chinese music instruments in many ways, but also presents a Western composer's observation and thinking on the structural logic of Chinese music.
In the past, TCO released 6 performance albums including Whiring Dance via the Swedish BIS record company from 2009 to 2015. The Memory of Mountain in 2020 is the work that TCO made its voice to the world again 5 years later. TCO and LIN Cho-Liang jointly proved that Chinese music performances are not limited to Chinese cultural areas, but can cooperate with the Western music scene to open up unlimited possibilities.
In December 2020, TCO will join the All U People Theater to re-enact the best-selling drama My Aside- Like Life in 2019. This is the commemorative work of the 40th anniversary of the TCO. The play takes the audience to recall well-known TV songs in memory from the perspective of cultural history, such as Bao Qingtian, the Five Lantern Awards, One Word a Day. Under the enthusiastic praise, we decided to reproduce this program, so that the audience who could not experience it last year can also have a warm time and space journey.
In January of next year, fans of "TCO Theater" will finally be able to watch the musical When the Lotus Blooms come out after all the calls. TCO specially invited the Studio M and Composer Wang Hsi-Wen to portray PAN Jin-Lian, a living woman with flesh and blood, passion and desire, by bold musical fantasies. The production process of this musical was delayed due to the epidemic, but it finally overcome all difficulties and will meet people on a new stage in 2021.
The accumulation of time has made the late opening more attractive, and fans are welcome to come and appreciate the wonderful work of cross-border artists.
