Silk Road Bimonthly 060

Silk Road Bimonthly 060 cover

The Taipei Chinese Orchestra's fervent new season is as passionate as the summer sun. Three TCO albums—respectively dedicated to a local trailblazer of Chinese classical music, the musical heritage of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, and an inventive blend of the Hokkien language with the Western musical —have received eight nominations at the upcoming 29th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music.

Within these albums, demonstrate the right direction that TCO keeps striving for in the world of music.

Pine. Bamboo. Plum Blossom: Works of Cheng Si-Sum” is a live concert album commemorating the late Taiwan conductor Cheng Si-sum, a pioneer of Chinese classical music;“Taiwanese Aboriginal Carnival”is an exploration of indigenous heritage that fuses Chinese classical music with the traditional songs and vocals of Taiwan's aboriginal tribes; and“The Four Women in Puppet Master Lee Tien-Lu's Life”is a western-style musical set to the Hokkien language.

These three albums embody the musical pioneers, cultural diversity, and global aspirations of Taiwan. Also represent the TCO's pursuit of progress and ambitions in the field of Chinese classical music.

With the gracious support of Taipei's Department of Cultural Affairs, TCO has curated another season filled with surprises and challenges, including a performance at the iconic Carnegie Hall eight years after our last American tour. We look forward to celebrating our 40th anniversary with you and sharing the rhythm of our journey as TCO presses forward.
