Silk Road Bimonthly 067

Silk Road Bimonthly 067 cover

In the glorious October of celebrating our National Day, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra (TCO) is also marking its 40th birthday while receiving a multitude of congratulatory messages poured in from all corners.

As the General Director of TCO, I have participated in programming five concert seasons; it seems naturally to introduce these leading musicians and excellent works to coincide with our 40th anniversary. Under consideration of keeping tradition and bringing innovation, I found the arrangement added a nostalgic atmosphere to this season as well.

In the forthcoming concert, TCO will play one of its most played signature works the Fantasia – The Chin Dynasty Terro Cotta Soldiers. TCO believes we will present new facets to audiences after years of efforts in music.

TCO's consultant LIN Ku-Fang stated that the group is a unique one developing diversity based on the tradition. It not only reflects Taiwan's confidence, but also exerts Taiwan's creative power. As a saying from The Analects of Confucius goes, "At forty, I no longer suffered from perplexities," TCO has gained momentum and it is worth the wait. With all the encouragement and support, we will keep working together and moving forward to embrace next 40 years of brilliance.

In addition, at the concert, TCO will invite a world-renowned Cellist Chien Pi-Chin to present her affection for the hometown with Taiwan Rhapsody, tailor-made for her by her husband, also the famous composer Fabian Muller. Chien has performed in major concert venues around the world, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center in New York and the Konzerthaus Berlin in Germany. We cordially welcome concertgoers to enjoy the event and experience Taiwan's beautiful music power together.
